PART-TIME TRAINER
LGBT Ireland is a national charitable organisation which provides
support services to Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and Intersex (LGBTI+)
people and their families. Informed by the issues and experiences
raised through our frontline services we also provide training and
advocacy to enhance the visibility, inclusion and rights of LGBT+
people living in Ireland.
ABOUT LGBT IRELAND?S TRAINING AND EDUCATION WORK:
LGBT Ireland provides a range of training workshops and programmes to
drive LGBTI+ awareness and inclusion within mainstream services and
organisations. These include:
* LGBTI+ AWARENESS WORKSHOPS: We provide LGBTI+ awareness training
workshops to a wide range of professionals, services, and groups, to
enhance their capacity to be aware and inclusive of LGBTI+ people
within their own work/service.
* LGBT CHAMPIONS PROGRAMME: We deliver a specialist training
programme and professional network for health and social care
professionals working with older people, to enhance their ability to
respond effectively to the needs of older LGBTI+ people and to drive
LGBTI+ inclusion within their own service.
* BESPOKE TRAINING ON EMERGING NEEDS: We develop bespoke LGBTI+
awareness training based on specific needs and emerging issues for our
community.
* ELEARNING PROGRAMMES: We work in partnership with public sector
bodies to develop online training tools/programmes to enhance LGBTI+
awareness across large institutions and workplaces.
PURPOSE OF THIS POST:
This post offers an exciting opportunity to enhance LGBT Ireland?s
capacity to meet the growing demand for training, from a wide range of
external agencies. The role involves both training delivery, and the
development of innovative tools and programmes, to respond to a
diverse range of training requests and strategic opportunities.
The post holder will be the first point of contact for all training
requests and will work with the Senior Training and Advocacy
Coordinator, to establish training priorities and content areas for
further development.
STRUCTURE OF THIS POST:
This is a part time role (2 days per week) on a fixed term 1 year
contract.
The post holder will report directly to the Senior Training and
Advocacy Coordinator.
THE KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
_Key role responsibilities will include:_
* Responding to external requests for training and work with Senior
Training Coordinator to organise training calendar.
* Co-designing and delivering training and education workshops on
LGBTI+ issues based around the specific training needs of external
stakeholders.
* Evaluating and reporting on training delivered
* Presenting, as appropriate, at relevant sectoral conferences,
seminars, webinars on issues, needs and experiences of the LGBTI+
community.
* Supporting design, organising, facilitating annual volunteer
conference and other organisational conferences, seminars, webinars
etc.
* Participating in relevant conferences and seminars to keep abreast
of important new developments, research and presenting key learning
internally to staff team etc.
_Essential criteria_
* Minimum 3 years? experience of delivering training in adult and
community settings
* Demonstrable experience of using participatory methods
* Experience in designing and adapting training material for a
variety of audiences / settings
* Relevant qualification in adult / community education / training
skills / facilitation skills
* Ability to deliver interactive training online
* Ability to research a topic and create a relevant presentation /
training
* Strong communication skills; strong listening skills
* Respectful, non-judgmental, non-confrontational training attitude
* Strong team work experience and skills
_Desirable criteria_
* Strong knowledge of LGBTI+ issues
* Full, clean driving licence
